Somethin' For Summer – Strawberry Honey Dijon BBQ Rub

This is a sweet-leaning BBQ rub that still plays like a real seasoning. Somethin’ For Summer is built around honey-forward smoke, strawberry powder, and mustard bite, then finished with basil and tarragon so it lands bright instead of candy-sweet. Think “sticky backyard BBQ,” but with enough tang and herb to keep it usable on weeknight protein, not just ribs.

The texture coats well, browns fast, and builds a glossy-looking crust when you grill or roast. It’s especially strong on chicken thighs, pork tenderloin, ribs, salmon, and grilled vegetables where you want sweet-and-tangy flavor without reaching for a bottle of sauce mid-cook. If you’re shopping for a strawberry honey Dijon BBQ rub, a sweet BBQ seasoning for chicken, or a dry rub that works on fish and veggies, this one hits the mark. It’s limited edition, so when it’s gone, it’s gone.

This blend is for cooks who want “summer flavor” without dessert vibes. Use it as a dry rub, a finishing seasoning, or as the base for a quick glaze. It also does a weirdly good job on non-BBQ stuff: rim a cocktail glass, dust corn on the cob, or use it anywhere you’d normally do sweet heat. And yes, it’s a real move in vinaigrette when you want fruit + tang without chopping anything.

Suggested Uses

How to use it: For grilling and roasting, start with 1–2 tsp per pound, pat on, then let it rest 15–30 minutes before cooking. For ribs and bigger cuts, go 1 Tbsp per pound and rest 30–60 minutes (or overnight if you have time). For a quick glaze, mix 1 Tbsp rub with 1 Tbsp oil (or butter) and brush during the last 5–10 minutes of cooking. Best paired with Somethin’ Somethin’ Sauce or The Clevelander.

Proteins - Chicken thighs, wings, pork ribs, pork tenderloin, salmon, shrimp, smoked sausage

Plant-based - Grilled corn, sweet potatoes, carrots, grilled pineapple, roasted cauliflower, mixed grill vegetables

Sauce Pairings - Use this rub for the crust, then sauce late so the sweet notes stay clean. Try it with Somethin’ Somethin’ Sauce and/or Jalapeño Business.

Awesome

One of the best spice blends I’ve tried. Tried some at Howard’s market on popcorn and knew it would be excellent on grilled chicken. Rubbed a wild turkey breast before smoking it and best meat I’ve cooked. 10/10

You're a 10 out of 10! Thanks for the review!

We absolutely LOVE! B.T Leigh’s Sauces and Rubs. We currently have in our pantry at lest 1 bottle of every dry rub and 2 different bottles of the BBQ sauces. B.T Leigh’s has become an absolute staple in our home and major contributor to some amazing dishes! My husband And I happen to stumble across them at a local farmers market, and ever since have been completely hooked! If you have not given them a try I ABSOLUTELY recommend you do!

Put it on your veggies!

I LOVE THIS BLEND! It's sooooo good on roasted summer veggies. It's also pretty tasty on a slice of melon or some strawberries. Mix it with dry tea leaf blends for some spectacular pork. Swordfish LOVES this seasoning! So dang good!

Great and Smokey sweet

This is limited edition and I hope it comes back. I've sprinkled it on Chicken, fresh grilled veggies and it's really good on fresh fruit like cantelope, pineapple. It also makes a great dip which Brian has a recipe for.

Amazing!!!

I was just putting some of this ✨️wildly✨️delicious seasoning on watermelon and thought, "I need to order more ASAP." I am so sad to find it is sold out! Chicken, watermelon, popcorn, fruit salad, so, so many things that it pairs with (and so many more I wanted to try!).
Hoping this one gets put back in circulation 🍓

My new favorite!!!

Omg, I was worried that at first I would never find enough good uses for this blend to go through the 2 bottles that I got…. Well now I’m sad that I can’t get anymore, nonetheless in the big size!! Lol. This is hands-down my new favorite dry rub for grilled chicken!! And when I roast sweet potatoes in the oven, I toss them in coconut oil and COAT them in this rub. To die for!!!! Sooooo good!!!

Herbal punch with just a little sweetness

As always, BT Leigh's delivers on the unique big flavor. The basil and tarragon scream summer, while the sweet and smoky flavor augments anything you could put on the grill. It's almost a berry vinaigrette in seasoning form. My personal favorite is pouring this on an ear of corn slathered in butter. Truly a summertime treat!

Nice seasoning - good change-up from his regular!

I enjoyed this seasoning as a different way to create a more delicate seasoning for chicken. It makes a killer salad dressing with some white wine vinegar and olive oil.
