Spiced Crackers Spiced Crackers

B.T. Leigh's Spiced Crackers

In September of 2019, we decided that we needed a better way to sample our rubs. Previously, if we weren't serving pulled pork or chicken, we'd just hand out a cup full of rub to the souls brave enough to throw it back like a shot. This was not ideal.

Enter the humble saltine cracker and our not so humble spice blends.

Ingredients

  • 1 box of mini saltine crackers
  • ½ cup of neutral oil such as canola or vegetable
  • 3 tablespoons of B.T. Leigh’s Spice Blends

Directions

  1. Pour crackers in a bowl.
  2. In a large bowl, thoroughly mix the oil and three tablespoons of the spice blend. Pour the crackers into bowl and stir to combine, mixing thoroughly to coat the crackers.
  3. Transfer the spice rubbed crackers to a baking sheet and let sit for approximately 10 minutes. This will allow the spiced oil mixture to permeate the cracker.
  4. Place the crackers in a 400 degree oven and bake for 4 minutes.
  5. Remove crackers from oven and let cool for 15 minutes before bagging.
  6. Store in an air tight container for up to a month, which is nearly impossible - they wont last that long.
