What is a finishing salt?
A finishing salt is a salt blend meant to be added at the end of cooking or just before serving. It gives a dish a final layer of flavor and texture instead of simply seasoning it during the cooking process.
How do you use finishing salt?
Use finishing salt as the last step before serving. Sprinkle it over grilled meat, roasted vegetables, potatoes, eggs, salads, pasta, flatbreads, soups, or even fresh bread with butter or olive oil for a quick boost of flavor and texture.
What makes finishing salt different from regular table salt?
Finishing salt is usually used in smaller amounts and chosen for its texture and flavor impact. Instead of disappearing into the dish, it sits on the food and gives you little pops of salt, crunch, and seasoning in each bite. We use kosher salt flakes as the base of our finishing salts, not iodized table salt.

What foods pair best with finishing salts?
Finishing salts pair well with steak, chicken, pork, seafood, roasted vegetables, potatoes, eggs, pasta, grain bowls, salads, bread, and dips. They’re best on foods where that last bit of texture and flavor can really stand out.
Can I cook with finishing salt, or should I only use it at the end?
You can do either, but finishing salts really shine when used at the end. That’s when you get the most texture and the clearest flavor from the herbs, spices, and aromatics in the blend. Be very careful not to use a lot of the finishing salt if you cook with it. You can always add salt, but its really hard to remove it.
Are finishing salts only for fancy meals?
Not at all. Sure they’re great on a dinner-party steak, but they’re just as useful on scrambled eggs, roasted broccoli, avocado toast, or a baked potato. They’re one of the easiest ways to make everyday food feel a little less ordinary. We love the sumac & onion salt on buttered bread. We have a customer that keeps our garlic & rosemary in her purse, just in case.
What flavors are in this collection?
This collection includes a range of flavor profiles, including thyme & lemon, sumac & onion, garlic & rosemary, and chipotle & lime. It also includes a gift box version of the finishing salt line.
Why would I buy flavored finishing salt instead of a regular seasoning blend?
A finishing salt does a different job. Seasoning blends are usually built to flavor food during cooking where a finishing salt is about the last touch. It adds a more immediate hit of texture and concentrated flavor right before you eat. You won’t realize you need it until you start using it, then the world opens up.
